AI MODEL AGGREGATION / SMALL-TEAM GUIDES
Build a small AI tool with a replaceable model layer
A proposed implementation workflow for independent developers evaluating multiple text models through TokenBison.
The short answer
Start with one narrowly defined user action and one model configuration. A unified API can help you evaluate alternatives without rebuilding the entire tool, but your server should still validate input, bound workload size and decide whether generated output is usable.
Define one useful action
For a public-text rewriting tool, specify the input length, output format and what changes are allowed. Reject unsupported input before calling a model. Keep an example of a good answer and a few representative failure cases. Avoid launching with many loosely defined actions: they make it difficult to tell whether a model change improves the product or merely changes its style.
Keep model selection behind your server
Store the TokenBison key and selected model ID in server-side configuration. The browser should call your application's endpoint, not receive the provider credential. Parse the returned answer and apply your acceptance checks before returning it to the user. An API response is generated data, not executable code or an instruction to change application configuration.
Compare before expanding
Evaluate a second model using the same action and test inputs. Track latency in your own environment, output acceptance and cost per useful result. Do not generalize a small trial to a regional performance guarantee. Roll out a changed configuration to a limited workload first and keep a known configuration ready if the new one fails your checks.
Evidence and boundaries
These are documentation references and proposed evaluation workflows, not measured model rankings or a guarantee of savings. Check the current catalog and policies before use.
TokenBison API documentation · reviewed 2026-09-16
The documentation implementation specifies https://tokenbison.com/v1, server-side API keys and an explicit model identifier. Optional capabilities must be verified per model; the shared interface does not establish universal feature support.
TokenBison current pricing · reviewed 2026-09-16
The pricing implementation distinguishes input and output token costs, model billing modes and account groups. This guide gives an evaluation method, not a current price quote or measured savings.
Put the guide into practice
Review current model prices, then make a small API request with public or non-sensitive sample data. Compare the output against your own acceptance criteria.
