AI MODEL AGGREGATION / SMALL-TEAM GUIDES
Use multiple AI models through a unified API
A small-team guide to a shared API endpoint, explicit model selection and compatibility checks with TokenBison.
The short answer
TokenBison's documented base URL is https://tokenbison.com/v1. Keep the API key on your server and select a supported model using its exact ID. Reusing a request format can reduce integration changes, but you must test each model's supported parameters and response behavior.
Start with the smallest request
Use the API documentation to send one non-streaming text request. Keep the messages short and record the chosen model ID. Inspect the HTTP response and confirm that the expected text field is present. A successful connection is not sufficient if your application reads a different response shape. Save this minimal request as a regression case before adding optional parameters.
Change one variable at a time
To evaluate a second model, keep the input and evaluation rubric fixed and change the model field. Only after that baseline works should you enable streaming, tools or other options. If the second model rejects a parameter, remove optional fields one at a time and consult its documentation. Do not silently strip required behavior just to obtain a successful status.
Keep the integration replaceable
Put the endpoint, model ID and secret in server-side configuration. Keep business logic separate from response parsing so another endpoint can be evaluated later. Record application-level failures without logging keys or unnecessary user data. Treat model or gateway upgrades as changes that require a repeat of the acceptance tests, not as a reason to assume permanent compatibility.
Evidence and boundaries
These are documentation references and proposed evaluation workflows, not measured model rankings or a guarantee of savings. Check the current catalog and policies before use.
TokenBison API documentation · reviewed 2026-09-16
The documentation implementation specifies https://tokenbison.com/v1, server-side API keys and an explicit model identifier. Optional capabilities must be verified per model; the shared interface does not establish universal feature support.
Microsoft: unified model API · reviewed 2026-09-16
Microsoft documents multiple model backends behind one client-facing API. This supports the category terminology only, not the presence of Microsoft's features in TokenBison.
Put the guide into practice
Review current model prices, then make a small API request with public or non-sensitive sample data. Compare the output against your own acceptance criteria.
