AI MODEL AGGREGATION / SMALL-TEAM GUIDES

Choose an AI gateway for a small team

An evidence-first checklist for API compatibility, total cost, failure handling and data boundaries before adopting TokenBison.

Content updated:

The short answer

Choose a gateway by the requirements of your application: model access, API behavior, cost, failure handling and applicable data policies. TokenBison should be evaluated against those requirements rather than assumed to be the best fit because it exposes multiple models.

Create a requirement table

Write down required models or task types, response formats, expected usage and unacceptable failure modes. Mark each item as verified, unverified or not required. A feature advertised by another gateway does not prove it exists in TokenBison. Use the documentation and a small real request to verify the basic integration; test optional behavior separately.

Compare the operational tradeoff

A gateway introduces a shared dependency even when it reduces client integration work. Decide how your application behaves if the endpoint is unavailable and whether you can change configuration without rewriting business logic. Ask for documented behavior when a provider fails rather than assuming automatic fallback. A successful retry during a test does not prove a service-level commitment.

Make data handling a go-or-no-go check

Start the evaluation with public or non-sensitive data. Review the current policies and relevant provider terms before expanding the data scope. If the documentation does not answer a requirement about retention, location or permitted use, treat that requirement as unresolved. Do not replace a missing policy answer with a model-generated reassurance or a marketing summary.

Evidence and boundaries

These are documentation references and proposed evaluation workflows, not measured model rankings or a guarantee of savings. Check the current catalog and policies before use.

TokenBison API documentation · reviewed 2026-09-16

The documentation implementation specifies https://tokenbison.com/v1, server-side API keys and an explicit model identifier. Optional capabilities must be verified per model; the shared interface does not establish universal feature support.

TokenBison current pricing · reviewed 2026-09-16

The pricing implementation distinguishes input and output token costs, model billing modes and account groups. This guide gives an evaluation method, not a current price quote or measured savings.

Put the guide into practice

Review current model prices, then make a small API request with public or non-sensitive sample data. Compare the output against your own acceptance criteria.
